Privacy Policy
Last updated: 21 July 2026
1. Who we are
ViewPassword ("the extension") is a free, open-source browser extension developed by Nikba Creative Studio (www.nikba.com). This policy explains what the extension does — and does not do — with your information.
2. Data we collect
None. ViewPassword does not collect, log, or transmit any personal or usage data. Specifically, it does not:
- send any data to us or to any third party;
- use analytics, tracking, cookies, or advertising;
- contain any remote code or external network requests;
- read your browsing history or the content of pages you visit.
3. How the extension works
ViewPassword places a small toolbar next to password fields on web pages. When you explicitly click the copy or reveal button — or press the corresponding keyboard shortcut — the extension reads the value of that one password field solely to:
- copy it to your device's clipboard, or
- toggle it between hidden and visible on screen.
This value is used only at that moment and on your device. It is never stored by the extension and never leaves your browser.
4. Local storage
The extension saves a single preference locally — whether it is enabled or disabled — using the browser's local storage. This setting stays on your device and contains no personal information.
5. Permissions
The extension requests only the permissions required for its function:
| Permission | Why it is used |
|---|---|
clipboardWrite |
Copy a password field's value to your clipboard when you ask. |
storage |
Remember the enabled/disabled toggle locally. |
activeTab |
Deliver a keyboard shortcut to the tab you are viewing. |
| Host access (all sites) | Show the toolbar on password fields regardless of which site you are on. No page content is read or transmitted except a field's value at the moment you click copy or reveal. |
6. What it cannot access
ViewPassword cannot read passwords stored inside your browser's encrypted password manager. It only works with the value currently loaded in a page's password field.
7. Third parties
We do not share, sell, or transfer any data to third parties, because the extension does not collect any data in the first place.
8. Children's privacy
The extension is a general-purpose utility and does not knowingly collect information from anyone, including children.
9. Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted on this page with a new "Last updated" date.
